MOSCOW, Russia – The all-new Ford Transit has won the “Van of the Year” category at the prestigious “Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia” awards.
The 15th award ceremony took place this week at COMTRANS’ 2015 in Moscow. It is the 11th award Transit vehicles have won in Russia.*

“The Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia” award is an annual nonprofit event aiming to reveal the best commercial vehicle of the year in Russia in five nominations: “The truck of the year”, “The van of the year”, “The bus of the year”, “The prospects of the year”, “Special prize”.
The award results are based on the votes of a jury consisting specialized Russiaan automotive journalists. The main criterion for judges is the contribution of the vehicle to the improvement of the freight transportation efficiency.
Among the factors taken into account by jurors are the newness of technical solutions, maintenance costs, sales volume, financial terms of acquisition and service availability. This year results were based on the votes of 10 jury members.
The full-cycle production of the all-new Ford Transit started at the Ford Sollers plant in Elabuga in April 2015. The all-new Ford Transit is available in Russia powered by the 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with a choice of three power ratings (125, 135 and 155 PS) paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The all-new Transit offers customers the choice of front-, rear- and all-wheel drive. The model has been adapted to the needs of the Russian market and has been tested on local roads.
Multiple GVM options from 3.1 to 4.7 tonnes are available on the Russian market in a range of bodystyle variants: Van, Chassis Cab, M2 Bus and Kombi. The Van model is offered with a choice of three length variations and two different roof heights.
In addition to the Transit standard models, Ford Sollers also is introducing a range of special versions of the Transit specifically for Russia.
