MOSCOW, Russia, January 15, 2014 — Ford Sollers sold 106 000 Ford vehicles in Russia in 2013. The 4th quarter became the most successful for the company in 2013 and resulted in 29 000 sold vehicles with record sales of Ford Kuga (around 4 000) and Ford Transit (more than 4 000).

Due to outstanding performance of Ford dealers and extremely well planned and implemented marketing campaign in December Ford achieved best monthly sales results in 2013, which exceed 12 300 sold vehicles. Growth versus November 2013 was 39 per cent. All core model lines performed significantly better versus previous months and achieved following results accordingly Focus (7590), Kuga (1610), Explorer (640), Galaxy (203) and Ranger (110).

As we forecasted last year, in 2013 we witnessed further lack of customer activeness and change in customer behavior, with significant shifts between market segments. This has resulted in a decrease in the C-segment, where the Ford Focus (66,900 vehicles sold so far this year) remains the segment leader among all the brands. At the same time SUV segment showed a significant increase in the sales. By the end of the year the segment share reached 33 per cent of the market. This trend will unfold in 2014 according to the company forecast.

“Ford Sollers is a unique and very ambitious automotive holding that has the dynamics of a young company and the best experience in marketing and production in Russia thanks to Ford’s track record in Russia and Sollers competences and success. We used our advantages and despite the fact that the market hasn’t been very friendly this year we pursued the implementation of our investment plan and offered our clients new products: we brought new SUVs — Explorer Sport, NEW Kuga, started building engine plant and launched the R&D center. Despite the industry slowdown, we believe Russia has strong growth potential long term. Significant growth is not likely for next year but Russia could become the largest market in the wider European region by 2020. Based on this forecast we continue to invest in our product line-up development, especially in SUVs. In 2013 our investment figures reached $ 300 mln. and in 2014 they will be even more, up to $ 500 mln.”, — said Ted Cannis, President and CEO, Ford Sollers.

“In response to the trend of growing SUV segment, we managed to increase sales of Explorer and Kuga more than twice and reached 5,000 units and 12 000 units accordingly in 2013. In 2014 based on Ford’s SUV expertise we are launching new SUVs in Russia, such as Ford Edge in early 2014 and Ford EcoSport in the second half of the year that will entrench our model range and offer customers Ford SUVs that fit every taste. And of course we will demonstrate a number of the interesting novelties during Moscow International Automibile Salone this year”, — added Adil Shirinov, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Ford Sollers.
