MOSCOW, Russia — Ford Sollers picked up two trophies at the prestigious “Car of the Year in Russia — 2017” awards.
The new Ford Kuga was crowned best-in-class in the Light SUV category, while Ford Focus won the Small Middle Class category. Focus is now a three-times winner, having previously won the Best Novelty category in 2006 and 2009.
According to the poll on the award’s website, Focus also made it into the top 10 cars on the Russian market in the Workhorse category. Voters scored Focus 80.6 per cent for reliability, 66.8 per cent for pricing and quality, and 57 per cent for fuel economy.
The Car of the Year award has been held in Russia since 2000 and the winners are selected by car enthusiasts, rather than automotive media. This year 972,307 people from across Russia cast votes and 78 per cent were men, of whom 87 per cent owned a car.
