Ford Sollers will deliver a batch of school buses to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan

Elabuga, Tatarstan, Russia, August 18, 2016. — Ford Sollers will deliver a batch of 61 school buses on the basis of the new Ford Transit to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan. According to the existing tradition, the company will deliver the new school buses to the region before the beginning of the school year. Keys to the vehicles will be handed over to the schools during a meeting of educators and scientists of the Republic of Tatarstan attended by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov.

These special versions are designed on the basis of the new Ford Transit with a long wheelbase; they feature rear-wheel drive and are powered by a Duratorq TDCi 2.2.L diesel engine with 135 HP and 6-speed mechanical transmission. The school buses seat 22 passengers — 20 children and 2 supervisors.

Ford Transit based buses are ideal vehicles for safe and comfortable transportation of children in urban conditions and on interurban routes. The new bus was designed with account taken of all technical requirements and state standards that guarantee safe transportation of children. Passenger seats are equipped with safety belts and meet all comfort requirements. Baggage racks allow compact arrangement of school supplies, backpacks, and schoolbags.

The mechanism preventing the start of motion with open doors or partially closed doors guarantees the safety of children when they board or exit the bus. The same function is performed by the light and sound warning system, which notifies the driver of open doors. The speed limiter limiting it to 60 km/h does not allow the driver to accelerate, this way ensuring the safety of passengers.

According to the state standards, the vehicles are painted yellow and feature the color graphic signs “Transportation of Children” and “CHILDREN.” Additionally, all vehicles are equipped with a tachograph, allowing recording and storing of information about the driver’s actions.

All school buses based on the new Ford Transit, which will be operated in Tatarstan, are supplied with air conditioning system, hydraulic assist steering wheel, fog headlights, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, driver air bag, and 8-way power seat adjustment.

Today, the full gamut of special versions of vehicles based on the Ford Transit designed with the support of Ford Sollers R&D Center and tailored to the needs of the Russian customers boasts more than 25 versions of models of special and social vehicles. Currently, there are organized export deliveries of special versions based on the Ford Transit to the markets of Kazakhstan and Belarus. The company continues expanding its lineup of special versions of vehicles on the basis of the new Ford Transit and considers new possibilities for the export of special versions of its own design for the purpose of further development of its business.
